Japan began its fourth coronavirus vaccination on Wednesday, May 25, targeting people aged 60 and over and those at high risk.

The fourth dose of theSLOTXOPfizer-Biotech, or Moderna vaccine, is aimed at reducing the risk of serious illness caused by the novel coronavirus.

People who are eligible for the fourth dose of vaccination are those aged 60 and over and those aged 18 years who have a medical condition or who their doctor indicates is at high risk of developing severe symptoms.

Vaccination is done at large medical institutions and vaccination centers. The fourth dose is given at least 5 months after the third dose.

The fourth dose of vaccination began on Wednesday, May 25 in the Minato and Koto wards of Tokyo, among others. And there will be a nationwide vaccination after this. Vaccination cards have been mailed to citizens aged 60 and over.

In some jurisdictions, people with health problems may have to file a complaint with local authorities. Or some local authorities may send immunization cards to all residents aged 18 and over.
