Another female member of the Guyana Police Force has been hospitalized following a brutal cutlass attack by her reputed husband.Constable 16813 Rodlyn Hooper, who is attached to the Albion Police Station, was admitted as a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital after she was dragged from a store and chopped about her body yesterday.Her assailant is still on the loose.Reports reaching this newspaper state that Hooper and her reputed husband had separated for some time.At around 10:00 hours yesterday, she was in a Pitt Street,Fj?llr?ven K?nken Rea, New Amsterdam store when the suspect approached her and told her that his boss wanted to have a chat with her.She refused, and was dragged from the store. She began struggling with the suspect, who pulled out a knife which he had concealed on his person and began chopping the constable about her body.The woman ran into another store and collapsed while the suspect made good his escape.The badly wounded Hooper was picked up by a public-spirited person and rushed to the hospital, where she was immediately admitted.Her condition is listed as critical but stable.This is the second time in a week that a Police woman has come under attack from her male acquaintance.On June 19 last, Detective Constable Stay Yearwood was chopped several times about her body by her reputed husband, Steve Bynoe, 44, who subsequently committed suicide.The couple had just returned to Yearwood’s Number 51 Village, Corentyne home when an argument ensued.On that occasion Bynoe had locked the door, and before Yearwood realized what was about to happen, her assailant had already armed himself with the cutlass.While trying to flee, Yearwood was chopped repeatedly.Kaieteur News understands that Yearwood is still a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
