| The policeman accused of shooting a Nabaclis resident in controversial circumstances had sprinted away after villagers came to the victim’s aid.Police Constable Orville Tucker is charged with the shooting death of Carl Abrams on November 13, 2005 at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara.Tucker is appearing before Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire and a 12-member jury at the High Court.State Prosecutor Fabayo Azore yesterday led Shira Lewis in evidence.Lewis, of 44 Nabaclis,Stitched Nike NFL Jerseys, said that at around 19:00hrs on the night in question,Air Max Outlet Italia, she was returning home from the shop.On approaching a bridge that separates Nabaclis from Cove and John, Lewis recalled seeing two men heading in her direction.Lewis related that as the men passed her, she noticed a man known as “Shabba” holding up Abrams.According to her, Abrams was groaning in pain but she was too confused to look at his body. She noted that when she first saw Tucker, he was walking along the bridge and Abrams was on the ground.However, Lewis said when she approached them Tucker sprinted down the sideline dam. Campbell said she heard a sound and on peering through a window, saw two men on the dam.She recalled that one man was on the ground while the other was bent over him.According to Campbell, she had known Abrams for several years and Tucker, from seeing him around the village.The witness said she went outside and alerted a neighbour before rushing Abrams to hospital.Under cross-examination,Fjallraven Kanken Bags Australia, Campbell admitted that she had never seen Tucker before the night of the incident.She agreed too that when she first saw the men, they were both standing. Campbell stated that Abrams was not her close friend but it was the first time she had witnessed such an incident.The prosecutor is Kara Duff-Yehudah while attorney-at-law Pamela De Santos is appearing for the accused.The trial continues on May 27. |
