professional. Really excited to have him

Alcides Escobar’s streak of making 406 consecutive starts as the Kansas City Royals shortstop is about to end.

Manager Ned Yost said he plans to play Adalberto Mondesi http://www.bengalscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-drew-sample-jersey , 22, a couple of days a week at shortstop. Escobar, 31, has been the Royals everyday shortstop since 2011 after being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers as part of the Zack Greinke trade.

”Esky’s been our shortstop for a long time,” Yost said Tuesday. ”It’s a pretty big change, seeing someboy different at short, but it’s exciting Germaine Pratt Jersey , too because now you’re starting to give other younger players opportunities to see what they can do.”

Escobar was an American League All-Star starter and Glove Glove winner in 2015, the year the Royals won the World Series.

With the Royals in last place with a 22-50 record entering the game Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers, they are looking to the future.

”It’s a good chance to experiment right now,” Yost said. ”There’s nothing that is going to make or break us. You can start looking at things a little bit differently and start experimenting with some things.”

He said he talked to Escobar about his consecutive-game streak, which is the longest active streak in the majors, ending.

”We talked about the streak,” Yost said. ”There will be times he’ll sit. But it’s time to look at Mondi at little bit and move Esky around.”

He said he could play Escobar at play third http://www.bengalscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-ryan-finley-jersey , second or center field.

”He was excited about the opportuity,” Yost said. ”He’s at a point in his career where it will increase value if he can play multiple positions.”

Escobar played five games, one start in right field, in the outfield in 2010 with the Brewers. He has played 1,355 games at shorstop.

The Royals have already started their youth movement by trading closer Kelvin Herrera to the Washington Nationals on Monday for three prospects and outfielder Jon Jay to the Arizona on June 6 for two minor league pitchers.

The Houston Texans officially have acquired running back Duke Johnson from the Browns. Next comes figuring out how he’ll help the team.“We have a vision for how we want to use him, we’re excited about it, we’ve got to get him rehabbed Renell Wren Jersey ,” coach Bill O’Brien told reporters on Saturday. “He hasn’t missed any games in the past, I think, three years. Played 16-game seasons, been very productive, has played on special teams. We just have to get him out on a field and try to start seeing him within the vision that we have for him.”Johnson, through four seasons in the NFL, has yet to miss a game. Although O’Brien didn’t specify the vision for Johnson http://www.bengalscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-michael-jordan-jersey , the Texans see him as a player who has great versatility.“Duke’s a first-, second-, third-down running back, he’s played on special teams,” O’Brien said. “Good in the running game, good in the passing game, good professional. Really excited to have him on board and just really look forward to working with him.”O’Brien explained that Johnson had been on Houston’s radar screen for a while T.J. Hockenson Jersey , and that the organization did its due diligence.“A lot of people spoke very highly of him, including some people here,” O’Brien said. “Andre Johnson knows him from down in Miami, and Lamar Miller.”Johnson could potentially supplant Miller, especially since Miller has one year left on his contract and Johnson arrives with a deal that lasts through 2021. His $1.8 million salary for 2019 doubles in 2020; the Texans will need to believe based on what happens this year that they’ll get that kind of value out of him next year.
